Being in Galway was a wonderful experience. sorry this post is so late, but in a way it works out cause i have had 2 or 3 weeks to reflect on the experience. The city of Galway itself reminded me of Dublin just a lot smaller. We only really spent a night in Galway, but that evening and night was actually one of my favorite days on my trip up until that point. On the night in Galway I was able to find a chapel on the National University of Ireland in Galway to go to mass at. This was a cool experience because I was ale to find the chapel all by myself and celebrate mass in an intimate college environment. So funny, I was even the second person there so I lit the candles on the alter, set the chalice on the alter, and sat the wine and water out. Following mass I met my friends downtown to go to the first and only haunted house that Galway has ever had. There were no scary men with chainsaws chasing us around but they did do a good job. Needless to say this trip brought our group closer together and I think the haunted house that 5 of us went to had a lot to do with that. After all, anytime you are gripping someone's arm, hand, and body as tightly as you can, you are going to grow closer to that person whether you like it or not. haha This trip was a true blessing. It was really fun to be able to hear some Irish spoken by the little bus driver who took us on a tour around EnisMor, the biggest Aran Island. I also saw some curragh's on the island which was awesome to see them in Ireland since I have only seen them in USA. It was a cool feeling to see them in both place like that. I am lucky enough to get the opportunity to return to Galway in 2 weeks with my good friend Maggie from Duquesne. That is also the reason I wasn't too worried about doing everything there was to do and see in Galway. Going to the haunted house just about a week before halloween was pretty awesome though.
