This light house I went and visited last Friday on my day off. It appears to be close to where we live but it is very far. It was a nice walk and great weather. Marian had let me know she and Jim were in town on Wednesday so i was able to get dinner with them at Jack O'Rouke's on Thursday night before I went to see "Dancing at Lughnasa". It was quite a nice Irish pub that we went to and was such a nice visit. We even Facetimed my mom back in Pittsburgh. She was pretty confused and shocked to say the least.
This picture is from Accents cafe near St.Stephens green. Nice and comfy little cafe that is open late. Here is a shot from Stag's head bar on Dame court near Trinity University we even got free ice cream at the show! It was a beautiful Sunday in St.Steven's green. The leaves do change here and it reminds me so much of home.
Last Thursday I went skiing here in Ireland for the first time with UCD's snow sports club. The slope was made out of this prickly plastic surface with sprinklers spraying out water over top of it. As I approached it from far away my thoughts were that of Matt Sheridan's popular saying"what's up with that?" It was an experience but I'm not sure if I want to pay to do it again. I am even more excited to be back in the snowy mountains in PA. I did go along with the German girl and met her two Irish friends which were fun to talk with. The one was from Derry and the other the Wicklow mtns. Overall, the idea that you can perfect your skills on this stuff is kinda cool but it's just not much fun without snow around You can kind of see the snowboard trail behind the trees. My friend went snowboarding and even though she is an experienced snowboarder she fell a few times. Since there wasn't snow it forces you to ski or snowboard the correct way since there is no snow there to mask your mistakes or help you out. It was very interesting. I went down the slope one time after minutes of telling people I was too scared and that I would go down eventually. I felt like a little kid at the top of a hill too scared to jump on the sled and go down. After my first run down I go some training from the one guy who worked there. His name was Dawn and he was probably in his 60s. He was impressed that I was self taught and he kept saying "if you can ski on here you will do great in the snow" |
